
Why is India turning to crocodiles and snakes to ‘fence’ Bangladesh border?
India wants to fence the border with Bangladesh badly – even if it takes venomous snakes or crocodiles. India is considering using crocodiles and venomous snakes in river areas along the Bangladesh border to stop illegal crossings where fencing is difficult. Human rights activists and wildlife experts criticised the idea, saying the animals could harm local people and damage the ecosystem. Experts also said crocodiles and snakes cannot effectively control border areas.
